Manzanillo II is a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger of 114m LOA, with a 4,000 m3 hopper capacity, an impressive total installed power of 14,000 kilowatts, and accommodation on board for 50 crew members. She was built in Saint-Nazaire, France in 1988 and was purchased by Jan De Nul in 1995. Despite her old age, she was still fully operational until she set sail for the Democratic Republic of Congo where Jan De Nul sold her to Congolaise des Voies Maritimes (CVM).

iPS was asked by Jan De Nul to exclusively provide a full crew during the transition of ownership and to train the local Congolaise crew to get familiar with the vessel, dredging operations and maintenance.

“Although facing quite some local challenges, several maintenance dredging campaigns on the Congo River have been successfully performed by the IPS crew whilst training local Congolese crew.  All to great satisfaction of our Congolese clients. “, Philippe Angely, Tender and Procurement Manager of Jan De Nul said. Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the new name of Manzanillo II, and her crew have now taken over the maintenance of the Congo river and DRC’s critical ports.
